Godfrey's Bio         Birthdate: 25 November, 2005 (estimated)

Godfrey Owino was taken into Baraka medical center when a lady named Christine Onyango found him in very bad condition. His little body has deep scars on it. His ear had been bitten or cut. Godfrey was admitted to Nairobi Children’s home on 20 May, 2008.

Godfrey is our second child. We received him with Joshua on 16 Jun, 2008. Godfrey was happy when we took him out of the Nairobi Center. This little boy is very smart. He loves to be held, and soaks up love like a sponge. Godfrey, when we received him, was waking up screaming from nightmares. I just held him while praying and singing Hallelujah over him until he calmed down. Godfrey has been through a lot. He has fear and anger that only the love of Jesus Christ can heal.

Feb, 2009: Trena says "Godfrey - I love this little boy! We have a special bond. He is a very smart little guy. He knows more English than the older Joshua and John and even acts as their interpreter. Although he loves Auntie Trena, he often won't talk to me for the first few minutes after I arrive if it has been too long since I've been there."

Oct, 2009: Auntie Naomi says "Praise God for having a Luo in the house...He is always the leader in everything (doing good, doing wrong, in his studies)...He is the best in sleeping (maybe because he works a lot during the day thinking and planning everything for the other boys...He loves being treated like a baby...the most talkative boy in the house...He is the best boy in praying and singing, never forgets to pray for his food and sleep. He always requests for a song, especially in the last prayers for bed...has the best memory (very sharp). He would like to be a motor bike driver when he grows up."

Oct, 2009: Phil says "What a cute, stocky little boy. You can tell he is well fed. Godfrey seems to have mellowed a lot in the 1 1/2 years he has been with us as he has passed from the toddler stage. Seeing him go to school in the mornings makes me proud. He loves to be cuddled but he has so much going on that he has to get up and tend to those things after a while. He is a very slow eater. At meal time he is positioned facing away from the room to help him focus on eating. His favorite food is ugali and milk. One day he carried his lunch in his mouth until he got home that afternoon. We still haven't figured out that one. He loves to party and soaks up affection like a sponge. Naomi says that he wants to be the youngest. We teach him not to laugh when one of his brothers has a mishap. Godfrey is the first of our boys that I met in Nov, 2008. We got to spend the day and night with him at Auntie Trena's house in Nairobi before going to Haven to meet the other boys. We developed a special bond."
