Tyson Amani arrived at his new home at Haven on the Hill on
21 July, 2009 at age 3 (approx).
Birthdate:
15 April, 2006 (estimated)
According to the report we were given, Tyson was found abandoned at a bus stop at approximately one and a half years of age and placed in Manasseh children's home. The Manesseh home was shut down by the Kenya government on the 9th of April, 2009 because of poor conditions. We received Tyson from the Nairobi rescue center.
Oct, 2009: Auntie Naomi says "Tyson is the quietest and most honest of the boys. He is never in trouble. His first week at Haven was full of worries. He was afraid of everyone, especially James. After the first week he fit in well. He wants to add petrol to cars when he grows up."
Oct, 2009: Phil says "Tyson is an amazing three year old. He is very strong and physically gifted. He can run fast for hours. Tyson, James and I traveled the 1/2 mile to the school several days on foot to deliver lunches to the older boys. James and I would travel at James' pace but Tyson would RUN ahead, going back and forth across the road and then stop, turn and wait for us to almost catch up before he would take off again. It was difficult for me to keep up, even when carrying James. He is consistently one of the first of the boys to finish eating while the other younger boys try to figure out new ways to eat or play with their food. Tyson is also very sensitive and his feelings get hurt easily, especially when the other boys shove him to the back of the line for my attention. After sulking for a while he always bounces back. However, his expression remains much the same whether he is sulking or happy, so it is difficult to tell. He and James are buds. They play for hours on the playground while the older boys are at school. He is intrigued when some new equipment arrives at Haven to complete some work. It's going to be fun watching him grow."
May, 2011: Phil says "Tyson is growing tall and strong. He has a unique smile that is fun to experience. Tyson is a man of God!"
